The School of Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim invites applications for the position of a Full Professor of Social Psychology and Microsociology (W3) expected to be filled from February 1, 2025.

The University of Mannheim is looking for a scholar with outstanding commitment and excellent scientific background in social psychology and microsociology, whose innovative and theory-building research substantially and methodologically fits both psychology and sociology. It is expected that the research is qualified to contribute to research at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES), preferably to sociological research (work area A). Applications are particularly encouraged from scholars whose research uses a wide range of methods.

The successful candidate should strengthen the national and international visibility of the University of Mannheim in social psychology and microsociology. The candidate is very well connected in the field and should have a track record characterized by publications in high-ranked journals in social psychology and the acquisition of competitive third-party funding.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in English and German in the undergraduate programs in social psychology as well as sociology and in the graduate program in psychology. Involvement in university self-administration is required. We explicitly welcome active engagement with the social science doctoral program of the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS).

The appointment requirements are determined by § 47 LHG of the State of Baden-Württemberg. Requirements for employment are a first university degree, a doctoral degree and additional post-doctoral scientific accomplishments (e.g., habilitation) or equivalent performance within or outside of the higher education sector.
